In November of 2001 Azerbaijan section of International Council for Scientific Development of International Academy of Science was founded. Honorary presidents of AS/IAS were elected from Azerbaijan: a member of Milli Majlis, academician of NAS - Jalal Aliyev, and from foreigners: former Secretary General of European Council, honorary president of ICSD/IAS - Prof. Dr. George Kahn-Ackermann.

 

As a Co-president and Chairman of AS/IAS was elected Acad. Elchin Khalilov. Also as Co-presidents of AS/IAS were elected a president of Azerbaijan National Academy of Science, Academician of NAS, Acad. Mahmud Karimov and Head of department of Azerbaijan National Aviation Academy, Acad. Arif Mammadov.

As foreign Co-presidents of AS of IAS were elected: Acad. Walter Kofler (Innsbruck, Austria), Co-president of Russian Section of IAS, secretary Academician of RAMS, Academician of RAMS and IAS, Acad. K.V. Sudakov  (Moscow, Russia) and president of East-European Section of IAS, Academician of IAS, Acad. Karl Hecht (Berlin, Germany). As a General Secretary of AS of IAS was elected Academician of IAS, Acad. Vagif Salmanov and as a foreign General Secretary - Academicians of IAS, Acad. O.S. Qlazachev  (Moscow, Russia) and Acad. E.N. Savoley (Berlin, Germany).
